One highlight every summer is the Lehár Festival in Bad Ischl. Franz Lehár was loyal to Bad Ischl all his life and he was a welcome guest at the Goldener Ochs. He created some of his best operettas in Bad Ischl in his villa on the Traun river. After his death he bequeathed this gem to the town of Bad Ischl. Today the Lehár villa is open during the summer months and it is always worth a visit. Franz Lehár was laid to rest in Bad Ischl's cemetery.
Around the 18 August the monarchy is back on the agenda again in Ischl when Emperor Franz Josef's birthday is celebrated. Delegations and numerous regiments from former Crown lands come to the imperial town to honour his majesty.
