The Katrin cable car has been bringing countless visitors up to one of Upper Austria's oldest conservation areas since 1959. Enjoy the charming 15-minute trip up to over 1,400 m altitude with a spectacular view over the imperial town of Bad Ischl and as far as Traunsee lake!
From the top station's terrace you have a sweeping view over the Dachstein, Loser, Schafberg, Gosaukamm, Totes Gebirge, Höllengebirge and many more miraculous mountains in the Salzkammergut tourist region.
Numerous panoramic trails
The 7 lakes hike and 3 peaks tour lead you over the Katergebirge's three peaks, the Katrin peak, Elferkogel and Hainzen. On the way you enjoy views over seven lakes, four valleys and the unique mountain scenery of the Salzkammergut tourist region.
The new pathway, which is also suitable for pushchairs, takes you on a roughly 10-minute walk from the top station, past the Katrin mountain inn, to the "Kaisers Ansitz" viewing point.
Katrin's via ferrata
Do you need a bit more of an adrenaline rush? The multi-generation via ferrata is ideal for athletes and thrill seekers - guaranteed views of plenty of lakes. The 320 m long via ferrata up to Emperor Franz Josef's cross always runs very high over the edge of the steep northern faces but is never difficult and therefore also suitable for children and beginners.
