Around 18 August, during the so-called Emperor's Week, the flair of the imperial and royal era is particularly special in Ischl - the birthday of Emperor Franz Josef, who loved Ischl, is celebrated. During the traditional Imperial Week, delegations and numerous regiments from all former crown lands come to the former imperial city.
Operetta festival & lots of culture
The Lehár Festival is one of the highlights every summer. Throughout his life, Franz Lehár was loyal to Bad Ischl and a welcome guest at the Goldener Ochs. He created some of his best operettas in his villa on the Traun River in Ischl. After his death, he bequeathed his piece of work to the city of Bad Ischl. Today, the Lehár villa is open during the summer months and always worth a visit. Franz Lehár was laid to rest in the cemetery of Bad Ischl.
Around the 18th of August, the monarchy is back on agenda in Ischl when the birthday of Emperor Franz Joseph will be celebrated. During this traditional imperial week, delegations and numerous regiments from all former Crown lands arrive to the imperial city in honor of his majesty.
